Recognizes and Honors Veterans
The Hampton Township School District
recognized and honored veterans at the 17th
Annual Hampton Heroes event, on Monday,
Nov. 14 at 9 a.m. in the Hampton Middle School
Auditorium. This year’s event was hosted by the
elementary schools.
The Hampton Heroes program has been an
ongoing effort by the Hampton Township School
District to recognize and honor veterans. To date,
over 200 men and women who have served in
the Armed Forces have been inducted into the
program. This year, the District inducted 10 new
members into its ranks.
The 2016 inductees included: Anthony
Solomon, U.S. Army; Catherine C. Smith, U.S. Navy;
George A. Graf, Sr., U.S. Army; George Anthony
Graf, Jr., U.S. Army; James L. Fetterhoff, U.S. Navy;
John H. Smith, U.S. Army Air Corps; Joseph E.
Hrason, U.S. Air Force; Nicholas Salvia, U.S. Marine
Corps; Robert Fagan, U.S. Army; and Todd Salvia,
U.S. Air Force.
Inductees were honored during a special
ceremony, featuring guest speaker Colonel
Ian Ferguson (retired). Col. Ferguson attended
Bucknell University and was commissioned in May
1985. Following TBS and IOC, he was assigned to
the 1st Battalion, 5th Marines from 1986 to 1989.
He served as a Platoon Commander, S-3 Liaison
Officer and Company XO. He completed two unit
deployments to Okinawa and also deployed with
Contingency MAGTF 1-88 to the Persian Gulf
during the “Tanker Wars.”
Col. Ferguson’s 30-year military career included
serving as the Assistant Director of Individual
and Family Policy at OSD/RA; military faculty at
the Joint Forces Staff College; commander of the
Headquarters and Support Battalion, School of
Infantry; and Branch Head, Reserve Continuation
and Transition Branch in the Reserve Affairs
Division at Quantico. He retired as the Command
Inspector General at Marine Corps Installations
East in June 2015.
Hampton High School Hosts
Panel on Identifying and
Preventing Harassment
On Tuesday, Nov. 15 from 9 to 10:30 a.m. guest speakers discussed tips and tools
students can use to identify and prevent harassment, as well as how to maintain positive
relationships among peers, civilians and coworkers. Student Council President Gabriella
Conley moderated the panel discussion. Students who attended the event had
the opportunity to submit questions in advance for the panelists
pertaining to the identification and prevention of harassment.
Conley read the questions and panelists had the opportunity to
respond.
