Started by Drs. Karly and Mike Allen, both physical therapists for more than a decade and Slippery Rock University graduates, Precision Physical Therapy and Performance’s approach to patients is unique in that a patient’s journey to wellness doesn’t have to end once the physical therapy is over. “We saw a need not only for a physical therapy clinic, but a facility that we thought would foster a health and wellness journey for patients overall,” says Dr. Karly Allen, who is a certified athletic trainer as well as a physical therapist. “We decided to create a space for physical therapy, and then take it to the next step by adding a space for yoga, Pilates, strength and conditioning, and massage therapy.” The resulting clinic will not only be a center for patients to recover, it will be a place where anyone can go and work on improving their overall health and wellness in a 4,000-square-foot multi- functional facility. “Our goal is to empower our patients. Through personalized care and patient education, we strive to meet our patients’ goals as quickly as possible,” says Dr. Mike Allen. “In addition to physical therapy, we have a top-notch strength and conditioning program that focuses on sports performance and injury prevention for athletes, as well as personalized exercise programs for the general population.” What’s more, Precision Physical Therapy and Performance’s model allows patients to transition out of physical therapy and into a wellness program that is focused on their individual needs and physical conditioning. Physical therapy is covered by most major insurances, but patients looking to continue their wellness journey will be given incentives to maintain their health through the offered wellness programs. “We work closely with our support staff, and continue to give input as physical therapists to our former patients as they continue on with us,” notes Dr. Karly Allen. “Because we know their strengths or weaknesses, there is direct input from us to our wellness staff regarding the best way to continue improving a particular patient’s health.” Those who don’t require physical therapy and are looking for wellness activities and strength training can sign up for one of the various packages Precision offers. More information regarding classes and packages can be found on the website, precisionptandperformance.com. “Our facility aims to provide an experience to people, not just routine exercise,” explains Dr. Mike Allen. “We strive for an encouraging atmosphere for people to motivate them, to foster wellness and better overall health. Physical therapy can be challenging, but 90 percent of people, even if they don’t like coming to therapy, comment to us that their overall experience was pleasant and they enjoyed working with us. We cater to them and make it a good experience.” For more information on Precision Physical Therapy and Performance and it’s October grand opening, go to precisionptandperformance.com.
