Affordable Adjustments
for People on the Go
I
f you’re a fan of the anytime, anywhere convenience of Massage
Envy, then you’ll absolutely love The Joint Chiropractic, a
chiropractic care franchise started by the Massage Envy founder.
David Duffy, who opened the first Joint Chiropractic in
Pennsylvania this spring in McCandless Crossing, said that the
customer response to the concept has been phenomenal so far and
that people really appreciate chiropractic convenience.
“It’s basically bringing affordable chiropractic care to the masses,”
Duffy said. “Anyone can come in and get an adjustment, but where
they really gain value is if they sign up for a membership and come
in on a regular basis. For $69, you can come in four times a month, it
equates to less than $18 per adjustment. We’re open on evenings and
weekends and people never need an appointment.”
The Joint Chiropractic gives members a membership card to
swipe whenever they come in for adjustments. There is a brief
medical questionnaire to be filled out upon the first visit. After that
information is on file, members can come and go as they please.
“A lot of traditional chiropractors want to put you on a six-month
plan after you’ve had a major trauma, like a car accident,” Duffy said.
“And then they try to throw as many treatments at you that they can,
which can create a bill of thousands of dollars. Plus, a lot of those
treatments are beneficial, but they’re not beneficial for everyone,
so people become disenfranchised, or go to physical therapists, or
simply turn to pain relievers and hope for the best.”
At The Joint Chiropractic, the emphasis is on prevention, so if the
model sounds more like a gym membership than a doctor’s regimen,
that’s why.

“We’re trying to get people to look at chiropractic care differently,”
Duffy said. “If you include chiropractic care as part of your health
and wellness routine, you can help prevent pain and the onset of
certain arthritic conditions. Here, we’re more approachable, more
feasible and more convenient, allowing and promoting people to use
chiropractic care on a consistent, affordable basis.”
That approach is catching on, as The Joint Chiropractic is the
preferred chiropractor for the Hampton High School football team
and the Hampton girls gymnastics and basketball teams.
While The Joint Chiropractic doesn’t accept health insurance plans,
adjustments cost less than most people’s co-pays and it does accept
cash, credit cards and health and flex savings accounts. There are
currently two chiropractors on staff, and the business is open from 10
a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday through Friday. On Saturdays, it’s open from
10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Duffy expects those hours will grow as more people
become aware of the fact that The Joint Chiropractic is an option for
them.
