16TH ANNUAL KIDS TRIATHLON SERIES Habitat for Humanity of Greater Pittsburgh hosted its 16th Annual Kids Triathlon Series! This series is the longest-standing youth race in the Pittsburgh area, and consists of two events: the first race, which was held on July 23 at the South Park Wave Pool and hosted near 200 young athletes ages 7 through 12; and the second race held on Aug. 6 at the North Park Swimming Pool with approximately 400 young athletes ages 7 through 15 participating. The young athletes swam, biked and ran to the finish line to raise money for the affordable housing programs of Habitat for Humanity of Greater Pittsburgh. Athletes of all abilities were encouraged to participate. Each participant received a goodie bag and a finishers medal, and qualified to win trophies and other prizes.
Since the inception of the Kids Triathlon Series 16 years ago, these races have raised over $ 750,000 for Habitat’ s local affordable housing programs. Athletes were encouraged to get involved in the fundraising by asking their friends and family for pledges, either in person or online, through a“ friendraising” platform. The top two fundraisers for the entire Kids Triathlon Series were announced at the North Park race. These fundraising champions won the opportunity to pick out a new bicycle at a local Pro Bike and Run store! For more information, contact Colleen Cadman at ccadman @ pittsburghhabitat. org.

GUARDIAN STORAGE OFFICIALLY BREAKS GROUND ON NEW FACILITY IN HAMPTON
Hampton Township officials joined together with Guardian Storage and honored guests on Tuesday, May 24, to celebrate the groundbreaking of an 110,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art self-storage facility located at 4750 William Flynn Highway.
After two years of planning, Guardian Storage and its development partners are excited about the project and feel it will be a valuable addition to the Hampton community. Guardian Storage President Steven Cohen says,“ The modern, attractive facility is in a convenient location and will feature the latest in self-storage amenities and security to meet the various needs of residents and businesses for years to come.”
Experienced on-site managers will be available to help customers select the best climate-controlled space to meet their storage needs. Drive-up units and indoor units with covered loading docks will be available in a variety of sizes. Customers will be given individual pass codes to gain access to the facility 365 days a year through gated entry and alarmed entrance doors.
According to Cohen,“ people use storage for a variety of reasons – for example, combining or separating households and storing retail inventory or business supplies. In almost all cases, they are going through some sort of life transition, so we are committed to providing an easy, convenient and supportive experience.”
Many local organizations, financial institutions and government leaders helped to facilitate the project, including Hampton Township Council and Administration, Desmone Architects, Bridges Construction and First Commonwealth Bank.
The Hampton facility will be the 13th Guardian Storage location in the Greater Pittsburgh area and is scheduled for completion in March 2017.
