T he Salvation Army’s Back to School Bash, held in August, brought hundreds of students, most from Greensburg Salem School District, to St. Clair Park to receive tons of new school supplies to start the year! Students received new backpacks, hygiene packs, haircuts, shoes, and more while enjoying a fun-filled day to celebrate the new school year. GS faculty and Interactors helped distribute backpacks, face painted, and helped visitors to choose a new book. Students were excited to see the welcoming faces of their teachers and principals and get in the back-to-school spirit! Mr. and Mrs. Thomas from Nicely Elementary show off some of their favorite reads! Susan Dickson Houser, Melissa O’Brien, Barb Garafola, and Michelle Sparrow distributed backpacks for the students to load up with supplies! Interactors Maddy, Logan, Joula, Sam, and Connor, along with GSHS teachers Mrs. Jorgensen and Ms. Iapalucci and Hutchinson principal Mr. Bringe, helped students choose books at the Back to School Bash. New Turf Compliments of $150K Grant GSHS Senior Wrestler Achieves Medalist Status at Nationals! C ongratulations to GS senior Riley Stoner for her wrestling successes at the Nuway Summer Nationals last August in Atlantic City, NJ! Her duals team placed first in the tournament, and Riley won freestyle and folkstyle national championships. Riley started her wrestling career years ago and is the first female wrestler in Greensburg Salem’s history. We are proud of her accomplishments and can’t wait to see what the future holds for this Golden Lion all-star! Administrators, school board members, students, and the community gathered at Offutt Field in August for the presentation of the stadium’s new turf, compliments of a $150,000 grant from the Pittsburgh Steelers and the NFL Foundation Grassroots Program. The funding enabled the district to replace deteriorated field with a new synthetic turf system this summer. Photo Credit: Rene Zundel This opponent is no match for Riley!
