“We are very proud of all
of our students’ accomplishments
and know their futures
look very bright…”
t Greensburg Salem, the 2017-18 school year is winding
down. As we look back at all this year had to offer, we
are very proud of the efforts of our students, staff and
community. In previous editions, we have frequently noted how
our work with students is purposefully connecting to the future
workplace as well as the larger community. As the 2017-18
school year comes to a close, we have many fine examples of that
connection to showcase. In our efforts to make education more
and more meaningful as well as personalized, I think you will feel
as I do, that Greensburg Salem continues to be one of the best
places in Western Pennsylvania if you are a unique young person
wanting to learn and grow.
In our magazine this month, you will learn about students at
the high school level hosting a brunch to apply business etiquette
and communication skills with community leaders in actual
conversations. This opportunity mirrored a business luncheon
where, as future employees, there is a standard for speaking
and interacting. This real life experience was excellent practice
for young people who will face bosses, clients and colleagues in
various work settings in their near futures.
Many of our students at Greensburg Salem hope to combine
skilled trades with future education plans. We have included a
story this month highlighting some of our students who attend
the Central Westmoreland Career and Technology Center for part
of their day. We’ve had students who received local and regional
awards in masonry, robotics engineering, web design and
automotive technology. We are very proud of all of our students’
accomplishments and know their futures look very bright thanks
to their efforts and that of our wonderful staff encouragin
