Fun at the Greensburg Hempfield Area Library! The Greensburg Hempfield Area Library offers many fun-filled programs for all ages. Below are just a few! Children’s and Teen Programs Play K (ages 3 to 5 years) Tuesday, May 8, 10 a.m. Come explore our play and learn centers and “play kindergarten.” This program is made possible through a grant from the Office of Commonwealth Libraries as part of the Cruise into Kindergarten initiative. This month’s theme is “All Around Town.” Oooey-Gooey, Gross and Goopy! (ages 6 to 10 years) Wednesday, May 9, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Our silly, strange and sometimes messy science series continues! In May we’ll learn about how archaeologist discover the truth about the past. Storybook Express: Rainbow Fish (ages 3 to 6 years) Saturday, May 12, 10 a.m. All aboard the Storybook Express! This very special train stops to visit some very special book characters! Come to the library to hop on Storybook Express to read stories, make crafts and play games with some favorite book characters! You can even come dressed as Rainbow Fish if you want! Hippity Hop (ages 3 to 6 years) Monday, May 14, 6 p.m. Bunnies are sweet little animals who love carrots! Hop over to the library and follow the carrot trail to some hippity hopping bunny fun! Tween Club (ages 9 to 12 years) Thursday, May 17, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. There’s a new club at the library, and tweens are invited. We’ll make perler bead/ pixel crafts, play games, talk about books and movies, eat snacks and more! Bring your friends and your ideas for activities! Read to Kaya and Friends (therapy dog program) ages 3 years and older Saturday, May 19, from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesdays, June 26, July 17, and August 7, from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. These programs are for anyone (3 years old and older) who would enjoy or benefit 24 72 4 .9 42.0940 to adv erti se ❘ icmags.com from reading to a therapy dog. Bring along a favorite book or two or choose from our selection and spend some time reading to the therapy dogs. No registration is necessary, and we will accommodate as many children as possible during the hour. Greensburg Community Days Memorial Day Weekend The library will have a table at this event. Please come and visit us! Summer Quest is the new name for Summer Reading. It focuses on summer learning activities and experiences that meet boys and girls where they are and help them to achieve their own goals and further their own interests. This year’s theme is Libraries Rock! We’ll kick it off at St. Clair Park on Thursday, June 14 at 10:00 a.m. Entertainer to be announced. Natalie will read Ada’s Violin, the Story of the Recycled ORchestra of Paraguay by Susan Hood and transform the library into our own Recycling Orchestra. 237 S. The 2 hour experience includes a cereal box collage workshop for families to create together! And much more! Harpist Concert Wednesday, June 27, 1 p.m. Join us as we welcome Sean Gaskell, an African Harpist, who will play traditional songs on the Kora, a 21-string harp that he learned how to play throughout the course of multiple visits to its homeland in Gambia, West Africa. Adult Programs Strange Aspects of the Elusive Bigfoot Saturday, May 12, 1 p.m. Since the 1960’s sightings of Bigfoot have been spotted yearly in Pennsylvania and across the country. Join Stan Gordon (presenter, author and investigator of strange events) to hear about the latest Bigfoot encounters, mysterious cases and other creature sightings.
