also performed a movement from one of Haydn’ s 51 piano sonatas. Flutist Christina Andrae and pianist Sylvia Andrae performed“ The Four Elements” by Swedish composer Fredrik Holm. Soprano Sophia Mintas sang opera arias from“ Rinaldo”( Händel) and“ Turandot”( Puccini), and Morgan Stouffer sang two Irish songs. Both singers were accompanied by Zach Rohlwing.
This year the Mildred Gardner Scholarship competition prize was shared by two winners, both of whom will be majoring in music when they enter college in the fall. Nicole Lamagna, clarinet, rounded out the program and the group looks forward to hearing pianist Tyler Stoner in the near future.

BATTLE OF THE BANDS CONTEST AT THE BRIAN T. RUSNOCK AMPHITHEATER, TWIN LAKES PARK
EXPANSION
A Battle of the Bands contest will be held on Saturday, June 10, at the Brian T. Rusnock Amphitheater at the Twin Lakes Park Expansion starting at 1 p. m. The intent is to provide an opportunity for up-andcoming bands to perform on a big stage and at a great venue. Prizes will be awarded and the first place band will be the opening act for The Hawkeyes on July 15!
Each band will be allowed 15 minutes for set-up and no more than 30 minutes for performance. Music is the band’ s choice and there is no limit to the number of songs performed, but time is limited. Bands will be assigned a start time if their application is accepted. Sound services will be provided, as well as a professional quality drum kit and power for the band’ s guitar amps and equipment. Bands will be judged on originality, musicianship, showmanship, audience response, band dynamic and overall performance.
