DENIM AND DIAMONDS GALA WITH THE WSO
The Westmoreland Symphony Orchestra presented its third
annual Denim and Diamonds gala event on Saturday, Apr. 2 at the
Greensburg Country Club. Proceeds supported the many programs
of the WSO.
Guests enjoyed cocktails beginning at 6:30 p.m., hors d’oeuvres,
food stations and desserts. Gary Racan and the Studio-E band
provided musical entertainment and dancing until 11 p.m. Guests
also had the opportunity to bid on both silent and live auction items.
“This was our third annual event — our guests enjoy the luxury
auction offerings, not to mention the fun atmosphere the live band
brings,” says Linda Assard, event co-chairperson. “But the true heart
of this event is raising funds to support classical music and music
education in our community.”
Auction items included a magnificent diamond bracelet, a safari
to the Zula Nyala Game Reserve in South Africa and a week-long
stay at a vacation home in Vail, Colorado. Sports fans bid on a Penn
State Football package including six tickets complete with a weekend
stay in a luxury condo. Raffle tickets were also purchased for a $600
gift certificate at Nemacolin Woodlands Resort. Guests also bid on a
cocktail mixing class for up to 30 with hors d’ oeuvres from Vallozzi’s
and brunch for 16 guests from One Eleven. Fine wines, jewelry,
wearables, home accents, spa, restaurant and golf gift certificates were
also part of the auction offerings.
Von DeRiso, Linda Assard and William Friedlander were cochairpersons for the event, and William Friedlander and Jody
Keating were auction co-chairpersons.
