in Honors Band Performance
G
reensburg Salem School District is
proud to have been represented by
tenth grade student, Gage Redinger,
at the Pennsylvania Music Educators
Association (PMEA) District 1 Honors Band
performance held in November. The festival
gathered highly talented musicians from
Allegheny, Fayette, Greene, Washington, and
Westmoreland counties to perform with
guest conductor Dr. Peter Loel Boonshaft,
Professor of Music and Director of Bands
and Instrumental Conducting at Hofstra
University.
Gage, along with Greensburg Salem’s
middle school and high school Band Director,
Jaime West, attended the event, with Gage
playing percussion in the band. Over
120 students from 28 schools in western
Pennsylvania participated.
The mission of PMEA is to advance
comprehensive and innovative music
education for all students through quality
teaching, rigorous learning, and meaningful
music engagement.
8th Grade students in Mr. Audia’s class
created charcoal drawings of their
eyes. The project was the culminating
experience of their big idea unit: identity.
