JOIN THE 2016 GREAT
AMERICAN CLEANUP
OF PA
The 2016 Great American Cleanup of PA
runs from Mar. 1 through May 31. During
this period, registered events can get trash
bags, gloves and safety vests from PennDOT
district offices, while supplies last. Events
include litter cleanups, illegal dump cleanups,
beautification projects, special collections and
educational events. As part of this event, the
Pennsylvania Department of Environmental
Protection and the Pennsylvania Waste
Industries Association will sponsor “Let’s Pick
It Up PA” – every day from Apr. 16 to May
9. During the Pick It Up PA days, registered
events will be able to take the trash collected
during their cleanup to participating landfills
for reduced or free disposal.
WALK A MILE IN HER
SHOES
Throughout the year, Blackburn Center
sponsors and hosts events designed to gain
support for its mission to end domestic and
sexual violence, and to raise awareness about
these issues. With your help, the center hopes
to reach the goal of ending gender violence in
the community!
The Blackburn Center’s largest event,
“Walk a Mile in Her Shoes,” takes place each
spring in Greensburg. In 2015, 1,100 people
participated in the walk carrying signs,
wearing high heels and signing the pledge to
end gender violence.
This year’s event will take place on Saturday,
Apr. 16, at Saint Clair Park. To register, or for
