Developing students
one day at a time
here are roughly 180 days of school each year.
Inevitably, on each day, some number of teachers,
a school district can expect roughly six percent of their

In order to substitute teach in Pennsylvania, a valid
Guest Teacher Program, those who hold any bachelor’s
degree but were never formally trained to become teachers
can quickly earn an
“Emergency Permit.”
This enables them to
substitute teach for one
year. Source4Teachers
is now collaborating
with the Westmoreland
Intermediate Unit
to provide a Guest
Teacher Program. Many applicants are taking advantage
of this two-day training course which covers topics such
as preparation, classroom management, instructional
strategies, professionalism, special education, and
PA Department of Education requirements. Substitute
teachers who participate in this program enter the

pursuing a full-time teaching career, stay-at-home parents,
and retirees. It’s worth noting that we not only have
available teaching positions, we also provide substitutes
secretaries, and food service workers. The availability and
requirements for these positions vary by district, but often
require a minimum of a high school diploma.
