Vicki Moseley
Public image district chair Rotary Club of Dunedin Central
With a passion for innovative and creative thinking , and having worked in design and marketing for more than a decade before establishing her own business , Hyper Design , Dunedin-based creative Vicki Moseley has taken the reins as District 9980 ’ s public image committee chair firmly in hand .
One of her key roles is fostering internal communication , including the creation of the district magazine , In Gear . As she set about gathering club information , it quickly became very apparent just what a powerhouse Rotary is for “ doing good ” in the community .
However , she noticed that , although Rotarians are very effective at delivering much-needed and worthy services to their local community , we ’ ve forgotten to record and tell our stories to the public .
One of the key strategic pillars in Vicki ’ s role as public image chair is to promote Rotary , with a focus on showcasing our organisation ’ s good – and diverse – works to the wider public and addressing misconceptions .
This , she says , will be a critical cornerstone in attracting new , enthusiastic members .
Vicki says the information submitted by the clubs for our inaugural 2016-17 district magazine was “ gold ” when it came to telling the Rotary story . So , putting the latest in communication tools to work , Vicki set about crafting a magazine aimed at being a jewel in the crown of Rotary District 9980 – something that every Rotarian can read and share , something that showcases our district ’ s Rotarian spirit in action .
And , here it is : our district ’ s first online digital magazine , In Gear .
Vicki is a new recruit to Rotary , joining Dunedin Central in November 2015 , after an initial introduction by her good friend , Shirley Walls .
Shirley invited Vicki to attend a social evening the club was holding at the Dunedin Gun Club . Club members were very welcoming and a laugh a minute , so it didn ’ t take much arm-twisting by Andrew Hamilton to convince Vicki that Rotary was for her .
It ’ s been something of a “ positive baptism by fire ”, she says – her skills were quickly called upon to help implement the new ClubRunner web platform to the district .

ClubRunner

Connect . Collaborate . Communicate
Vicki Moseley has been a key member of the team that has brought the new ClubRunner platform to District 9980 .
Another key aspect of Vicki ’ s role as public image chair is to run media , communications and ClubRunner workshops , which are scheduled to take place thoughout the district next month ( September ).
“ The aim is to help and educate clubs on creating quality content for their club website , the power of quality photography in telling compelling stories and working with the media .
“ The saying , ‘ content is king ’ is there for a reason ,” Vicki says .
The workshops will also include time for participants to discuss the initial bedding in of ClubRunner , and talk through any opportunities or challenges .
“ I know we have so many amazing projects and events in conception and underway , and , with the clubs in our district positively adopting the new website platform , the sky ’ s the limit for what we can achieve using technology to communicate our stories and to actively involve our community .”
