STUDENT-ATHLETES TO CONTINUE CAREERS ox Chapel Area
FOX CHAPEL AREA SCHOOL NEWS
Seventeen recent Fox Chapel Area High School graduates signed and / or committed to further their academic and athletic careers at the collegiate level.
As part of a ceremony in May, Fox Chapel Area Athletic Director Michael O’ Brien encouraged the students to remember everything they have poured into their academic and athletic careers so far.
“ That‘ never give up’ DNA is what you’ re taking with you to college,” Mr. O’ Brien said.“ Every one of you has hit a wall at some point – an injury, a tough loss, or a coach giving you a‘ hard time’ in order to push you to reach your fullest potential. You didn ' t quit, but rather, you thrived.
“ The jerseys and colors will change, but the lessons you learned here at Fox Chapel are permanent. We are incredibly proud of you.”
Among the 2025-2026 athletic accomplishments that these students were part of include:
26 FOX CHAPEL AREA
• Twenty-two out of 28 teams qualified for the WPIAL and / or the PIAA playoffs.
• The boys soccer, girls soccer, and field hockey teams won WPIAL championships.
• The girls cross country, boys golf, girls golf, and girls swimming and diving teams finished as WPIAL runner-ups.
• Nine teams – girls cross country, field hockey, girls golf, boys soccer, girls soccer, boys swimming, girls swimming, girls basketball, and girls lacrosse – qualified for state competition.
• Eleven teams were named section champions,
and seven had undefeated records in their sections( boys cross country, girls cross country, boys golf, girls golf, boys swimming, girls swimming, and boys tennis). The field hockey, boys soccer, girls soccer, and boys lacrosse teams also won their sections.
• Team QPA awards went to the girls tennis team( 4.25 QPA) and boys volleyball team( 4.03 QPA).
• The cumulative average team QPA this year for all varsity teams was 3.97.
• Senior Ava Calandra was the section individual champion in girls golf.
• Senior Claire Conti qualified for the PIAA track and field championships.
