VISITS PUT DISTRICT IN NATIONAL SPOTLIGHT
Fox Chapel Area FOX CHAPEL AREA SCHOOL NEWS
Earlier this year, the Fox Chapel Area School District hosted representatives from two leading national education groups – the League of Innovative Schools and AASA, The School Superintendents Association.
As part of the League of Innovative Schools Spring 2025 Convening in March, approximately 100 superintendents, district leaders, and educators from across the United States visited Fox Chapel Area. Attendees traveled to Kerr Elementary School, Dorseyville Middle School, and Fox Chapel Area High School. They learned about Fox Chapel Area’ s strategic vision, which focuses on educating the whole student and illustrates how, through inclusive, data-informed instruction, authentic learning experiences, and a focus on fostering belonging, Fox Chapel Area demonstrates its commitment to cultivating a supportive environment where students can flourish academically, socially, and emotionally.
The day’ s festivities at Fox Chapel Area culminated in“ Fox Fest,” an event that highlighted various programs and initiatives in the district, as well as a Unified Bocce match.
Launched in 2011, the Digital Promise League of Innovative Schools is a national network of school districts that connects forward-thinking educational leaders.
In early May, AASA representatives visited Dorseyville Middle School for a day full of table talks, tours, and presentations about various topics, including the use of“ zen dens” in Fox Chapel

The day at Fox Chapel Area was part of the spring meeting of the AASA Early Learning Cohort. The visit spotlighted the district’ s designation as a national Lighthouse School System for early learning.
“ These visits celebrated the district’ s ongoing efforts and opened the door for even deeper collaboration and growth,” said Dr. Mary Catherine Reljac, superintendent of the Fox Chapel Area School District.“ It was an honor to highlight the incredible work of our students, staff, and community, and a privilege to learn alongside education leaders from across the country.”
