Amazing Designs for Any Yard
Landscaping is so much more than just pruning and grass cutting. That’ s why at Wild Rose Landscape Design, your yard is a canvas that can be painted with life.
Under the management of Patricia Beck for the past year, Wild Rose still does the landscape designs, consultations, maintenance and container plantings that clients love. The only change to the business was eliminating hardscapes from the portfolio of services. The result is a leaner company that can focus more on designing and implementing designs ranging from elegant to avant garde in your yard.
“ We’ re all about the aesthetic that our clients want and maintaining the designs that we install,” Beck said.“ We work all yard sizes and are interested to help anyone with any landscape problem. If you don’ t like how your landscape looks, we can address any sort of landscape to make it better.”
Wild Rose designs for four-season appeal, with bloom being a visual focus in the growing months. The balance between color, fill, evergreen and deciduous plantings is possible in the Pittsburgh climate and a trained eye can also design for depth and textures, giving your yard a look that could be used on a postcard. And, given Pittsburgh’ s appeal to the deer population, Beck plans for the notorious garden eaters by using as many deer-resistant plants as possible.
“ We don’ t put in plants that have to be netted and a lot of deer will only eat tender growth, so we plan for that,” she said.“ We use an organic deer spray and treat a few times a month to keep them out until mid-season, when they usually aren’ t bothering plants anymore. Although, to most homeowners, it seems like they’ re there all the time.”
Because of its professionalism, aesthetic flair and devotion to the craft, Wild Rose was selected to partner with Mt. Lebanon three years ago to overhaul the planters along the Washington Road business corridor. Beck consulted with planter adoptees, came up with a plan for the best selection of plants, sourced the plants and did a planting“ blitz” to complete the project. Every spring, the
company returns to weed, mulch and keep the planters fresh for the season.
“ We’ re a woman-owned, woman-run business and strive to treat every property like our own, so it makes you very proud when you can point to projects like that and say that’ s your work,” Beck said.“ And with our residential clients, I envision every home like it’ s my own house, try to predict any problems that are inherent to the property and design to solve those problems when I can so homeowners have a low-maintenance, beautiful yard to enjoy.”
