The Fox Chapel Area School District Forum will hold a legislative forum event on Thursday, April 20, at 5:30 p. m. in the LGI room of Fox Chapel High School. The District Forum has invited state legislators to come and dialogue with parents, community members and school district staff on issues related to education and its impact on the school district. The format will be a panel discussion.
District Forum is an association of parents, community members and school district teachers and administrators whose purpose is to come together to discuss districtwide topics of interests. The ultimate goal of this unified effort is to represent the needs and interests of all children in the district to provide them with the best education possible.
Four public meetings have been held this year. Topics included the superintendent’ s vision for the district and the role assessment plays in reaching these goals; facilities and buildings in the district; and technology in kindergarten through grade 12. An additional meeting was called on Jan. 31 to learn more about the Property Tax Independence Act, legislation proposed in the 2016 state legislative session that would alter how schools are funded in the state of Pennsylvania. The intent of the proposed legislation was to move control of school funding from the district level to the state. District Forum meeting topics are determined from surveys and input from the community.
