in the LOOP year an hour of yoga has been added to end the event. This year, Spin Your Wheels will be “back in the saddle” for sole beneficiary Riding for the Handicapped of Western PA (RHWPA). RHWPA is a 501(c) (3) nonprofit organization that provides therapeutic horseback riding for children with intellectual and/or physical disabilities in the Pittsburgh area. Approximately 75% of the riders are children living with autism, but children with all disabilities are welcome. It is believed the rhythmical gait of a horse acts to move the rider’s pelvis in the same rotation and side-to-side movement that occurs when walking. The horse’s variable gait prompts riders to constantly adjust to encourage pelvic motion while improving strength, balance, coordination, flexibility, posture and mobility. You can learn more about RHWPA by visiting RHWPA.org. As an extra incentive, an event has been created at crowdrise.com/SpinYourWheels where participants create a team and ask their families and friends to donate toward the team’s effort. The team raising the most amount of money for the Spin Your Wheels event will win a fabulous prize! Registration EXERCISE WITH A PURPOSE On Apr. 9, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., the second annual Spin Your Wheels fundraiser will be held at Axle Fitness, located at 1913 Fox Chapel Rd. in Fox Chapel.
