• The boys’ varsity basketball team qualified for the PIAA Class 6A playoffs. The team members
were seniors Ryan Kerr and Noah Marks; juniors Samuel Brown, Will Livingston, Shane
Susnak, and Arnold Vento; sophomores Kent Baldauf and Alex Blaylock; and freshmen Jacob
DeMotte, James Dockey, Russell Fenton, Jarred Helgert, Lorenzo Jenkins, and Eli Yofan.
• The girls’ varsity basketball team qualified to participate in the PIAA Class 6A playoffs. The
team members were seniors Megan Friday, Danielle Moretti, and Grace Ritter; juniors
Giovana de Souza Anselmo, Claire Fenton, Gabriella Guerrieri, and Kyrie Nestel; sopho-
mores Domenica Delaney, Samantha Dunlap, Allison Hager, Madyson Kondel, Marissa
Ritter, and Elizabeth Schwartzman; and freshmen Iona Clark, Olivia Guerrieri, Olivia
Hager, Amelia Herzer, and Ava Rhodes.
• The Fox Chapel Area High School Unified Track & Field Team won the Westmoreland Regional
Unified Track & Field Championship. The team then advanced to the Special Olympics PA
Interscholastic Unified Track & Field State Championships.
• Six members of the Fox Chapel Area High School Track Team qualified for the 2019 PIAA Track
& Field Championships. Seniors Kate Carnevale and Sarena Seeger, and juniors Christian Fitch,
Abigail Kieffer, Brooke Krally, and Grace Sisson all qualified for the state competition.
• Two Fox Chapel Area High School wrestlers, senior Avery Bursick and junior Alexander Wecht,
received the High School Scholar All-American Award. The award is given by the National
Wrestling Coaches Association and the United States Marine Corps. The candidates for this
award must have at least a 3.5 GPA and be a varsity letter winner. Avery and Alex are two of
15 wrestlers from across Pennsylvania to receive this award, and the only two from Western
Pennsylvania.
• Fox Chapel Area High School junior Brent Brewster was named Western Pennsylvania’s Most
Positive High School Athlete in boys swimming as part of the Eighth Annual C. Harper Positive
High School Athlete Awards. Additionally, senior Kate Carnevale was given a Comeback Player
award.
• High school boys’ soccer coach Erik Ingram was named the WPIAL Class 4A Section 1 Coach of
the Year.
• High school athletes continued to be named to prestigious all-star and all-conference teams,
and also were chosen to participate in all-star games.
