2 018 - 2 019 f ox c hapel a r ea s chool d is tr ict | s tat e of t he s chools Student Awards & Achievements • A total of 165 Fox Chapel Area High School students were named Advanced Placement (AP) Scholars by the College Board for demonstrating college-level achievement on the AP exams. Seniors Vaishavi Agrawal, Daniel Andrud, Abigail Baldauf, Arnav Gupta, Marissa Hardiman, Theresa Heidenreich, Rachel Himmel, Jayanth Kashyap, Elizabeth Kaslewicz, Zachary Lakkis, Tristan McClelland, Mitchell Miles, Ryan Setzenfand, Annika Urban, Ziya Xu, and Chloe Yofan, and juniors J. Oliver Choo, Rajeev Godse, Noah Hertzman, Sina Shaikh, and Aaron Wu all qualified for the National AP Scholar award. • Several high school students won awards in forensic competitions. Senior Vaishavi Agrawal, juniors Hanna Chen and Rajeev Godse, and sophomore Jackson Romero qualified to participate in the National Catholic Forensic League Grand National Championship Tournament, and Rajeev and Jackson finished in the top eight in the nation. Additionally, nine high school students qualified for the Pennsylvania High School Speech League State Championship Tournament, and four students placed among the top four in various categories in the state. • High school senior Elizabeth Kaslewicz was named a candidate in the 2019 United States Presidential Scholars Program. • Thirty-seven Fox Chapel Area High School students placed in the Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) Regional Leadership Conference and qualified for the state competition. Eleven students went on to place at the state level, and three sophomores, Allison Carey, Kaylee Werner, and Zoey Zoschg, qualified for the national conference. • Fox Chapel Area High School’s 2017-2018 literary arts magazine, “Tapestry,” was named a first-place winner in the magazine portion of the 2018 American Scholastic Press Association’s Annual Review and Contest. 18 FOX CHAPEL AREA
