WHAT’S NEWS IN CRANBERRY TWO NORTH CATHOLIC HIGH SCHOOL SENIORS SELECTED AS 2019 NATIONAL MERIT SEMIFINALISTS Olivia Solverson and Anthony Rivetti were both selected out of 1.6 million students across the country who entered as juniors last year. They were selected based on Preliminary SAT scores, academic excellence, leadership, community service and overall character. Both students reside in Cranberry Township. The nationwide pool of semifinalists, representing less than one percent of U.S. high school seniors, includes the highest scoring entrants in each state. finalist level. SECOND ANNUAL GREAT BIRTHDAY BAKE The number of semifinalists in a state is proportional to the state’s percentage of the national total of graduating seniors. From the semifinalists, about 15,000 students are expected to advance to the On Sunday, Nov. 11, DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Pittsburgh-Cranberry hosted the second annual Great Birthday Bake, a kids baking competition to support Beverly’s Birthdays. There were 35 bakers gathered to compete in five premier categories and they were greeted by over 350 individuals from the community to taste their way through the delicious cookie extravaganza! After sampling the creative and colorful creations, the guests and judges casted votes for the winners. FOUR SV SENIORS ARE COCA-COLA SCHOLARS PROGRAM SEMIFINALISTS Seneca Valley exceptional seniors Victoria Beck, Jacob Geil, Ben Hess and Rishin Sharma have been selected as 2019 semifinalists in the Coca-Cola Scholars Program. They were chosen as four of the 1,896 semifinalists nationwide due to their outstanding leadership, academic achievements and dedication to community service, which was illustrated in their initial applications. The students will continue through the selection process with an opportunity to receive a $20,000 scholarship.
