MARK MACEDONIA RELEASES NEWEST NOVEL
Local author Mark Macedonia has released his newest novel,“ Shadows in the Dragon’ s Lair”— the second installment of the historical fiction trilogy featuring characters Frank Nash and Peggy Harrelson— which continues the story of international espionage begun in“ Silhouettes of the Dark,” which was published at the end of 2024.
This latest book builds on Macedonia’ s growing body of work and will once again appeal to readers who enjoy suspenseful, character-driven historical fiction.
GRANDFATHER- GRANDSON DUO PUBLISH CHILDREN’ S BOOK
A unique family collaboration has resulted in the publication of“ Rain-bros: Stuff I Want to Teach My Little Brother,” a new children’ s picture book created by Cranberry Township resident Tim Wesley and his 11-year-old grandson, Mason Imoke. Inspired by Mason’ s desire to share life lessons with his younger brother, Maddox, the book combines colorful illustrations by Mason with rhyming verses written by Wesley. The heartwarming story celebrates sibling relationships while exploring topics ranging from learning and creativity to family, friendship and growing up. DIVINE GRACE PARISH FAMILY FESTIVAL
Divine Grace Parish will host its annual Family Festival Aug. 7 – 9 at its St. Ferdinand Church campus. A tradition spanning more than 60 years, the festival is expected to draw thousands of visitors for a weekend of carnival rides, games, live entertainment, food, raffles and familyfriendly activities.
Highlights include nightly dinners, the popular White Elephant Sale, a Kiddieland area, and performances by local musical acts. Proceeds support parish ministries and community outreach efforts.

NEW MUSIC FESTIVAL IN CREIGHTON IN JULY
The inaugural Pittsburgh Music Festival will take place July 11 – 12 at Pittsburgh Brewing Company, bringing together a wide range of local musicians for a celebration of music and community.
Organized by longtime Pittsburgh music leaders, the event will feature multiple stages, diverse genres and a strong lineup of regional talent, while raising funds and awareness for Band Together Pittsburgh and Autism Pittsburgh.
Building on the legacy of the Pittsburgh Blues and Roots Festival, the new event will expand its reach and create a vibrant, community-centered experience.

NORTH PITTSBURGH QUILTERS GUILD TO HOST QUILT SHOW
The North Pittsburgh Quilters Guild( NPQG) is hosting a quilt show Sept. 11 – 13 at Ross Township Community Center, 1000 Ross Municipal Drive, celebrating 250 years of the USA.
It will be open from 10 a. m. to 5 p. m. Friday and Saturday, and noon to 4 p. m. on Sunday. Admission is $ 10. The show will have vendors, raffle baskets, a raffle quilt and a Treasure Chest filled with fabric and other quilting items.
NPQG is a nonprofit whose main goal is to further the quilting skills and knowledge of its members through programming, local and national speakers, workshops, lectures and a sewing retreat. The guild also participates in community service projects such as making quilts for foster children, Quilts of Valor, blankets for women’ s shelters and items for cancer patients.
The organization was founded in 1981 when women from a community college quilting class decided they wanted to continue to learn and grow as a group. Members are all ages and levels of experience, and they are always looking for new members who want to enhance their quilting journey.

MISSION OF MERCY PITTSBURGH TO HOLD FREE DENTAL AND HEARING CLINIC
Mission of Mercy Pittsburgh will host its ninth annual free dental and hearing clinic Oct. 16 – 17 at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center in Downtown Pittsburgh, providing essential care to individuals and families who lack access to affordable services.
The event will offer dental exams, cleanings, fillings, extractions and root canals, along with hearing evaluations and free hearing aids.
New this year is an expanded partnership with UPMC Vision Institute that will connect patients in need of vision care to a follow-up Community Vision Day on Oct. 18, offering eye exams and free eyeglasses.
Supported by hundreds of volunteers, the clinic continues to meet a growing need in the region, delivering life-changing care while helping patients connect to long-term health care resources. n
