Throughout the week leading up to the game vs. Mt. Lebanon, the band held its second annual campaign called “SV Band Gives Back.” In doing so, they raised over $2,400 to support the McFeeley Family from Mt. Lebanon. Brian McFeeley, Mt. Lebanon High School Principal, was recently diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer. At the game, band leaders presented a card and check to Mr. McFeeley. The band, along with SV Cheerleaders and the student section, also showed their support by donning green T-Shirts and ribbons. ART DANCES THROUGH EVANS CITY ELEMENTARY C an you make an impact through dance? Evans City Elementary (ECE) found out that you can when they recently hosted Attack Theatre, a dance company from Pittsburgh, to kick off a month-long artist-in-residency program. All-school assemblies, as well as individual classroom lessons, had students working with various dance themes, including leadership. The residency began as an Attack teaching artist will work directly with third grade students. This workshop culminated with a showcase performance on Wednesday, Oct. 9. New this year, Evans City Middle School (ECMS) will also be hosting an artist-in-residency program with Improv Theater. The program will host actor Sam Turich and begin in November.
