5TH ANNUAL EMMAUS SPIRIT RUN COSTUME 5K & 1-MILE FUN WALK
Put away your everyday running gear and get into the Halloween spirit at the 5th Annual Emmaus Spirit Run Costume 5k & 1-Mile Fun Walk on Saturday , Oct . 20 . The chipped 5k loops around the scenic Three Rivers Heritage Trail with the start and finish line in the South Shore Riverfront Park in the heart of the South Side Works . A family-friendly 1-mile fun walk along the Three Rivers Heritage Trail is also available . The race kicks off at 8:30 a . m . Strollers are welcome !
This event offers prizes for overall and age-level winners , a spirited costume contest and post-race family fun , including pumpkin painting , Halloween crafts , photo booth , food and drinks , raffles and more ! All proceeds benefit the Emmaus Community of Pittsburgh , which provides homes , services and advocacy for people with intellectual disabilities . Online registration is available through ACTIVE . com . Sameday registrations welcome ! Event is rain or shine .
FARMERS MARKET / HARVEST FESTIVAL AT THE BLOCK NORTHWAY
The Block Northway will host a yearend autumn farmers market to showcase the bounty of fall produce , along with a Harvest Festival featuring free fun activities for the entire family ! The fun begins on Friday , Oct . 26 , from 3 to 7 p . m ., at the new 2-level South Atrium located near DSW and Wahlburgers . Guests will enjoy locally grown farm fresh goods sold by diverse vendors like Freedom Farms , The Olive Tap , Wigle Whiskey , Jarred , GOODLife Juices , Aunt Carol ’ s Homemade Dips , Gahr ’ s Hamloaf , Zeke ’ s Coffee , Kettle Corn and many more .
Activities include free face painting , balloon artist , Carnegie Science Center Liquid Nitrogen Ice Cream , Pumpkin Patch , glow sticks , appearance by Witch Hazel , Harvest Brew Tasting by Pittsburgh Brewing . Costumes are encouraged and giveaways are on a first-come , first-served basis .

Community Auto , a program of The Lighthouse Foundation , is a nonprofit program that accepts donated cars , repairs and inspects them when feasible , and sells them at discounted prices to low-income working families and individuals . The used car in your garage that you don ’ t have time to sell , or didn ’ t get the trade-in value you wanted , or a car the kids used but no longer need would be the perfect car to donate . Your generous donation is tax-deductible .

In a friendly competition where the only winners were the guests who got to view stunning art from two very talented brothers happened at the Sibling Rivalry Show at the Jesse Best Gallery in Homestead .
Jacob Brown of Mars , a multiple awardwinning artist who recently displayed his work at the 2018 Three Rivers Arts Festival Juried Visual Art Exhibition , joined his brother and fellow artist Zach Brown as they introduced their latest series of paintings together at the show .
