‘Pete the Cat’ production, part of the
Citizens Bank Children’s Theater Series.
P
ete the Cat is singing about Pittsburgh and your groovy town
too! The Citizens Bank Children’s Theater Series is bringing
enthralling storybooks to life at Downtown Pittsburgh’s Byham
Theater and Seneca Valley IHS with thrilling physical feats and
spectacular singers and dancers. Pete the Cat is just one of four shows
grooving its way across the stage in your town this season. The first
show of the series, Dog Loves Books, will be in Butler on Sunday,
Nov. 20, at 2 p.m. Pete the Cat dances and sings at the same time on
Jan. 15, followed by the stunning acrobatics of Galumpha on Tuesday,
Feb. 14, at 7 p.m. The last show of the season in your area will be Circo
Comedia on March 12, a physical comedy duo that uses music, magic,
and roller skates.
If your teens and tweens are looking for more adventurous theater,
the EQT Bridge Theater Series presents exciting shows downtown.
Percy Jackson in The Lightning Thief and some seriously cool puppets
in The Man Who Planted Trees come to life for audiences ages 7 and
up.
Both series serve as a wonderful countdown to the EQT Children’s
Theater Festival, which offers international children’s theater and fun
activities that the whole family can enjoy May 18 – 21, 2017. Don’t
miss the final performance of the 2016-2017 Citizens Bank Children’s
Theater Series: Elephant and Piggie’s We are In a Play! To kick off your
summer, the Dollar Bank Three Rivers Arts Festival offers another
opportunity for families to explore the arts downtown with 10 days of
free music and art.
Looking for more? The whole
family can come to the Cultural District
for the 2016‑2017 PNC Broadway in
Pittsburgh series, including shows such as The
King & I and Finding Neverland. Younger children
will love Cohen and Grigsby Trust Presents: The Wiggles for one night
only on Sept. 27 at the Byham Theater.
