BRIDGEVILLE PUBLIC LIBRARY — CURL UP WITH A GOOD BOOK !
In cold weather , there ’ s nothing better than a cup of tea with a good book to read . The Bridgeville Public Library is a great resource close to home with books for all ages !
It has book groups for adults , which are online and in conjunction with other area libraries . There are also book groups for kids , with the American Girl Book Club and the Kids Book Club . Authors and Activities is a children ’ s program for kindergarteners through second graders that combines a book reading with a craft activity .

PITTSBURGH BALLET THEATRE PRESENTS ‘ THE NUTCRACKER ’
“ The Nutcracker ” has been a lovely Christmas tradition for generations ! Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre is presenting the beloved work Dec . 9-28 at the Benedum Center for the Performing Arts .
Legendary Pittsburgh choreographer Terrence Orr has created an enchanted world where fanciful characters come to life , in a production that features five different scenes with more than 150 beautifully designed costumes . FEEDING THE COMMUNITY
This time of year can be especially hard for families and workers who ’ ve experienced layoffs . The Bridgeville Community Food Bank is operated out of Bethany Presbyterian Church and distributes food to families in need around the Chartiers Valley School District . It also conducts a toy drive at Christmas for the families served .
The food bank accepts donations of nonperishable , non-expired food items at the church , located at 740 Washington Avenue , Monday through Friday from 8:30 a . m . to 2:00 p . m . For more information , visit bethanypresby . org / food-bank , or call 412.221.5132 .
MUSIC SCHOLARSHIPS !
Keynotes is accepting applications for its music scholarship competition , which will be held May 13 at the Fine Arts Theatre of Mt . Lebanon High School . Cash awards totaling up to $ 12,000 will be available .
The requirements are that instrumentalists must be under 26 years of age by June 1 , 2023 , and vocalists must be under the age of 30 , and the student must be a full-time music major at a college , university or music school or a graduating high school senior accepted for admission as a full-time music major .
