WHAT’ S NEWS IN CHARTIERS VALLEY
WOODVILLE’ S WHISKEY REBELLION DAY!
Woodville will present a reenactment of this historic event that took place in our area in the late 18th century. Join Woodville Experience on Sunday, July 20, from noon to 4 p. m. as the Battle of Bower Hill comes to life. The dispute over the Whiskey Tax is what led to the eventual formation of political parties.
Guided tours of the property are also offered on Sundays from 1 to 4 p. m. April through November. For more information, visit woodville-experience. org.
GREEN TREE NATURE CENTER
There’ s no time like summer to visit this natural escape in the middle of an urban area, with an entrance at Hillcrest Avenue and Crestmont Drive. There are different trails to explore in the half-mile loop, Orchard Hill Trail, Double Dip Canyon Trail and the Salamander Spring Trail. Visit this natural area to find your favorite path! Dogs are welcome but must be on a leash and all waste needs to be removed.
OPERATION TROOP APPRECIATION
We recently observed Memorial Day, remembering those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country. It also reminds us of our currently serving members and the desire to support them however we can. Operation Troop Appreciation helps servicemembers deployed anywhere in the world, either in combat or on humanitarian missions as active duty, reservists or U. S. National Guard. This assistance includes providing items needed by the troops while deployed, and helping veterans transitioning back into civilian life. For more information on this organization, which is based in West Mifflin, visit operationtroopappreciation. org.
