‘ NEWSIES !’— READ ALL ABOUT IT !
Chartiers Valley Middle School students were amazing in their performance of the Tony Award-winning musical comedy “ Newsies .”
Director Charlotte Zelch said , “ I have been directing and producing musicals for CVMS for 19 years , and this year ’ s group truly ‘ seized the day ’ and made magic on the stage !”
She added , “ Each year , we try to challenge our students . They rarely perform ‘ Junior ’ versions of the musicals because I believe they are capable of so much more . But this year ’ s cast surpassed even my expectation of what they could do .” “ Newsies ” was chosen also because it has a large cast , which allowed more students the opportunity to perform . “ Each performance was a true illustration of their dedication and talent ,” said Zelch .
She feels that the experience of the students working together on the production has enabled them to make connections that will continue into high school and perhaps beyond .
