RED BALLOON EARLY LEARNING CENTER
F
OPENING NEW LOCATION THIS SUMMER
or over 25 years, Red Balloon Early Learning Center has
been teaching Chartiers Valley-area kids from 6 weeks to
12 years old. This summer, the operation will get much
larger when the center moves with all 50 employees
to a new campus on the former St. Ignatius Church site in Scott
Township.
“We’ve repurposed the church to have an open play area and
play stations like a veterinary clinic, extensive building-block
area, post office, art room, library, and technology room. By
fall, we’re hoping to have a kitchen up and running so families
can purchase lunches for their kids,” said Joanne Thralls, owner.
“We will still offer our summer programs for
school-age children and maintain our status as a
Keystone Stars center, a designation for facilities
offering a higher quality of care. And, we’ll still
be offering Pre-K Counts to families who qualify.”
The facility will also have a new play yard
featuring various surfaces for children to enjoy and explore.
Thralls added that the same dedication to staff
enrichment parents have come to know over the past 25
years will endure. While many of the staff have master’s

degrees in child development and early childhood education,
they still take continuing education classes to stay current in the
field. Most of the staff has been with Red Balloon for decades.
