WOODVILLE OFFERS VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES CLOSE TO HOME !
Woodville is a National Historic Landmark and 18th century home of the Neville family . The site interprets 18th century life and the role of John Neville in the Whiskey Rebellion . The house is open April to December , and hosts many programs . Whether you are a current or past volunteer , or have been to the site before , the staff would love to see you . All ages are welcome !

COLLIER TOWNSHIP , THE HOME OF NATIONAL FLAG DAY The Rennerdale area of Collier Township is often called the home of National Flag Day .
William T . Kerr , who resided there , was the leader of the Flag Day Association of Western Pennsylvania . Kerr lobbied to make Flag Day a recognized holiday .
In 1916 , President Woodrow Wilson proclaimed Flag Day to be June 14 . But it wasn ’ t nationally celebrated until 1949 , when Harry Truman made it official by recognizing it as a national holiday with William Kerr at his side .
The Collier Township Municipal Building has a moving Veterans Memorial and Flag Day Monument . It ’ s a beautiful area highlighted by a water feature for quiet reflection . The township building is located at 2418 Hilltop Road in Presto .
THE WOODEN LOFT
The Wooden Loft in Bridgeville offers home décor workshops . You can choose a project to make , such as a wooden welcome sign , tabletop or other item . It has all the supplies needed to complete the projects , including accent hardware . You can come on your own to a workshop , or plan a private party with your friends . The staff can also help you plan a fundraising event with DIY projects for your nonprofit .

A TALE TOLD IN MUSIC AND POETRY
The Pittsburgh Opera has announced its 84th season ! If you ’ ve never visited the opera for an evening out , this might be your year . Besides great music there are beautiful sets , colorful costumes and always a powerful storyline . It ’ s advisable to get your tickets early , so that your preferred seating is not booked .
In September , “ Rusalka ” will be performed . This work by Dvorak is the Czech version of the charming tale “ The Little Mermaid .” Though a bit different than the 1837 version , similarly the main character falls in love with a human prince .
All of the beautifully sung dialogue is displayed in English subtitles above the stage . The words themselves are quite poetic , with title character Rusalka pleading , “ Tell him , silvery moon , that I am embracing him . For at least momentarily let him recall dreaming of me .”
This will be the first time that the Pittsburgh Opera has presented this work . Tickets will be available in late July .
For a bit of lighthearted fun , the classic Mozart opera “ The Marriage of Figaro ” will be offered in November . This comic opera will delight you with its lively music and hilarious situations .
