AGAIN
A
longtime Bridgeville resident, businessman and volunteer, Joe
Verduci, was appointed to fill the open Bridgeville Borough
Council member position in January. He will serve in the role
until a special election is held in 2017.
“I am happy and honored to accept the council member position
and work alongside the rest of the council members for the good of
Bridgeville,” says Verduci. “At the same time, it is bittersweet as I am
replacing a good man, husband, father and pillar in this community,
Jason Sarasnick. He has done so much for our borough over the past
eight years and I will do my best to build upon his achievements.”
Verduci and his wife, Karen, have lived in Bridgeville with their three
children for almost 19 years. He has been employed at Brentwood
Bank for 18 years and is Vice President of Relationship Banking.
“We will be opening a new branch of Brentwood Bank in March,”
says Verduci. “I’m looking forward to working in the new location.”
Verduci’s other volunteer efforts include multiple board member
positions. He has been a board member for the Bridgeville Athletic
Association for the past 14 years, and president for the past 10 years.
He has also coached three teams for the majority of his involvement.
Verduci has sat on the board of the South West Communities
Chamber of Commerce for four years and held the position of
treasurer the last three. He also volunteers his time as a board member
of the Chartiers Valley Education Foundation and works with
companies and the EITC grants that assist Chartiers Valley students.
He’s also a member of the Bridgeville/South Fayette Rotary.
“I’m very excited to have Joe on board as a borough council
member,” says Bridgeville Borough Council President Mike Tolmer.
“He brings a lot of experience and knowledge that will be helpful as
we move forward with borough business. His financial background
and volunteer work with various parks and recreation committees will
help us succeed with some of our planned goals this year and moving
forward.”
Tolmer cites several goals in the works for the borough, including
one aimed at solving the heavy traffic at the south end of Bridgeville,
near I-79.
“We always have traffic congestion at certain times of the day near
the bridge where South Fayette Township meets Bridgeville Borough.
I’m hoping we can work with the officials in neighboring communities,
along with PennDOT, to solve this problem.”
In addition, Tolmer announced that the borough received a
$215,000 grant that will be used for improvements to the borough’s
four parks, and, specifically, McLaughlin Run Park.
“It will be a project we begin discussing at the end of the year and I
foresee Joe’s background and experience in banking helping us use our
dollars wisely.”
The special election to formally fill the seat being held by Verduci
will be in November 2017. n
“I am happy and honored to accept
the council member position and work
alongside the rest of the council members
for the good of Bridgeville.”
