ST. LUCY’S AUXILIARY TO THE BLIND
52ND MEDALLION BALL
The 52nd Medallion Ball was held at the
Wyndham Grand Pittsburgh Downtown
on Friday, Nov. 27, 2015, and it was an
evening all about the girls! St. Lucy’s
Auxiliary to the Blind (SLA) honored 112
Medallion Candidates for their commitment
to volunteer service and dedication to
putting others before themselves. The Most
Reverend David A. Zubik, D.D. presented
the medallions during the event. The 2015
Medallion Ball honored young women from
all over the region, including Allison Park,
Mars, McMurray, Carnegie, Mt. Lebanon,
Upper St. Clair, Jefferson Hills, Glenshaw,
Bridgeville, McKeesport, Peters Township,

Cranberry, Presto, Shadyside, Sewickley,
Oakmont, Wexford, Moon Township,
Gibsonia, Murrysville, Export, Fox Chapel
and Bethel Park.
Over the past three years, these young
women volunteered a total of approximately
24,000 hours to serve those in need. To
qualify for the Medallion Ball, the candidates
were required to complete a minimum of
150 hours of volunteer service, but many
completed much more. At the 2015 event,
Lauren Wholey was specially honored,
having completed 487 total volunteer hours
— the highest of the 2015 candidates.
