WHAT’ S NEWS IN CHARTIERS VALLEY
BIG THINGS ARE GOING ON IN BRIDGEVILLE!
With Bridgeville Borough’ s 125th anniversary approaching, there are many things planned.
One of them is accepting resident submissions of local family recipes to be published in a cookbook. Contributors are encouraged to include the history and traditions behind the recipe, along with photos of the cook making the dish, and any handwritten versions of the recipe.
More than one submission can be accepted, via email at cookbook @ bridgeville. us or mail at BCA Cookbook, 447 Washington Ave., Bridgeville, PA 15017. For full details on submitting, visit bridgeville. org.
Congratulations to Barbara Rodgers who took top honors for the logo she designed in honor of the borough’ s anniversary, featuring a rising sun and the iconic walkway. She was awarded a cash prize, and her creation will be featured throughout the year as the official logo of the celebration.

A WALK WITH NATURE
Autumn is one of the loveliest times of year to visit a forest! The cooler temperatures are a welcome change from the sweltering heat. The trees become a symphony of color, and the birds and animals start to become more active.
A visit to the Kane Woods Nature Area is a perfect departure from the hectic pace of daily life, with opportunities for bird watching, walking and some quiet reflection.
Kane Woods is part of the Scott Conservancy, offering five different trails. To learn more about this local treasure, visit scottconservancy. org and select Kane Woods for trailhead maps and a short video of the area. n
