CV AQUATICS OFFERS SWIMMING FOR ALL AGES
The Chartiers Valley School District has two of the best pools in the Pittsburgh area. With Scott Township Community Pool open from Memorial Day through Labor Day and then the Chartiers Valley High School Pool open after Labor Day through Memorial Day, it allows year-round swimming at various levels.
April Ramsey has been the head coach of this year’ s Scott Sharks summer team. Along with April, there are six assistant coaches: Kiernan McCarthy, Jordan Lydon, Christina Butler, Josh Gardner, Hannah Lindh and Jack Mickle. Their mission is to provide a fun and exciting environment for swimmers of all ages and abilities. This mission is not possible without all the volunteering from the parents to help run the meets.
On Sept. 1, John Nemeth, head coach of the CV Aquatics programs, opened the Chartiers Valley High School Pool. CV Aquatics offers:
• Group Swim Lessons – ages 3 and over
• Private Swim Lessons
• High School Preseason Clinic
• Lifeguard Clinics – Full certification and recertification
• Scheduling of the pool for such activities as Pool Parties, Water Polo, Scuba, Water
Aerobics and other various water events. In addition, CV Aquatics has a Swim Club( PEAQ) that offers:
• Seasonal Short Course Group
• AMS competitive Groups: AG1, AG2, AG3, AG4, JR and SR Masters Program – High School graduate and older Some people who enjoy swimming want to take it to a competitive level. This can provide the health benefits of a vigorous workout as well as the fun and thrill of competition. The main strokes used in competitive swimming are breaststroke, freestyle, backstroke and butterfly. The distances in competition swimming can vary from 50 meters in a pool to much farther distances in open water. For more information, go to cvaquatics. com.
FIFTH ANNUAL SCHEUERMANN’ S DISEASE FUNDRAISER

SOUTH WEST MEALS ON WHEELS SERVES CHAR VALLEY
South West Meals on Wheels provides nutritious meals to seniors and disabled people in the Chartiers Valley and surrounding areas, who otherwise wouldn’ t have access to proper nutrition. Volunteers deliver meals Monday – Friday between the hours of 10:30 a. m. and 12:30 p. m. They offer a sacked lunch and hot meals. Once a week you’ ll also receive a quart of milk, and Meals on Wheels can accommodate most food requests. Much of the food is prepared from generous donations by Trader Joe’ s and The Fresh Market in the South Hills.

MCFALL FEST AT MCDONALD PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH Celebrate fall with an amazing day filled with lots of family fun on Saturday, Oct. 13, from 11 a. m. to 4 p. m., at the McDonald Presbyterian Church, 119 Station Street in McDonald.
