CAN’ T DECIDE ON CATERING MENU? Burgh Bites Offers Options for All Appetites

If you’ re looking for a caterer for your next banquet or party, but are tired of the same old“ wedding food” that most caterers offer, then it’ s time to look at the menu at Burgh Bites.

With a strong emphasis on traditional Italian recipes culled from his family’ s heritage, owner Ricci Minella has added some items to the Burgh Bites catering menu that’ s a hit for every occasion.
“ Our homemade pasta recipes are handed down from my grandmother, who was Calabrese,” Minella said.“ So you can’ t get a fresher, more authentic pasta than our ravioli, cavatelli and fettuccine. Add to that our unique red sauce, which has slow-roasted garlic, and pureed carrots for sweetness, and you have a pasta dish that you’ d need a passport to get from anywhere else.”
For the meat lovers, Burgh Bites has a braciole that will melt in your mouth. Minella got this recipe from his wife’ s side of the family and immediately added it to his menu for customers.
“ It’ s a slow-braised beef dish that I didn’ t have growing up, but had later in life. It’ s a traditional Italian dish, but a lot of people don’ t know what it is, which is a shame, because it’ s delicious,” Minella said.“ It’ s flank cut that we pound very thin and then stuff it with cheese, herbs and breadcrumbs. Then it’ s rolled it up, tied and seared. Then, it’ s cooked in our tomato sauce slowly until it’ s all tender.”
And, if your party has some vegetarians or you’ re just looking for a great sampler that ties everything together, Burgh Bites’ Grilled Vegetable Platter is just the thing.
With a seasonal variety of uniquely prepared vegetables served with feta and olive oil, the platter includes more than just grilled items. Some are sauteed, some are marinated. The exact combination depends on what’ s in season and how it’ s best prepared to extract every ounce of flavor for customers.
And, if your party is 10 or less, Burgh Bites’ Brick n’ Mortar location in Heidelberg can host your party in house upon
reservation, giving you and your guests at home dining experience without the clean up.
The Brick n’ Mortar location has allowed Minella to expand the business in three ways, all of which should make customers happy. First, it serves as a home base for the Burgh Bites truck, which loads up every day for its travels throughout the city. Second, it expands the catering capabilities of the business, which has successfully catered events from weddings to corporate events, and lastly, it provides a new, sit-down experience for customers looking to have a in-and-out, casual meal.
Burgh Bites and Brick n’ Mortar both have offerings for those who are gluten-free and vegetarian. If you’ re looking for a new favorite place, give them a try Tuesdays through Thursdays from 11 a. m. to 9 p. m., and Friday and Saturdays from 11 a. m. to 10 p. m. They are located at 1709 East Railroad Street, 15106. You can call in orders at 412.229.7119. Their full menu is online at burghbitestruck. com and you can find out where the truck is daily from their Facebook feed at facebook. com / theburghbitescart.
