DAZZLING DISPLAY!
“ Dazzling Nights” returns to Pittsburgh Botanic Garden on Nov. 28 and will run until Jan. 3. This amazing light display is a vast holiday wonderland— and best of all, it’ s close to home!
This year’ s display features a 50-ft. Christmas tree, a“ tunnel” of beautiful illuminated stars, 30-ft. walls of light, and a neon-lit forest. Pittsburgh rarely has a white Christmas, but you can enjoy a nightly snowfall with“ Snow and Glow.” And visitors of all ages will enjoy the Disco Snowman Escape Maze.
Be sure to visit the Garden of Reflection, adorned with beautiful stained glass windows and hundreds of candles! There will be plenty of warm beverages and holiday treats available as well. For more details, visit dazzlingpittsburgh. com.
Also, see our Merry & Bright feature in this issue, with more displays around the area!
IT’ S HAPPENING IN CARNEGIE!
Be sure to visit the Carnegie Holiday Farmers Market on Sunday, Nov. 16, from 10 a. m. to 1 p. m. on East Main Street( between Broadway and Mary). It’ s a great place to find items from area businesses that will make a much-appreciated gift, or something your own family will enjoy.
To help get you in the holiday spirit, check out Carols & Lights— where Carnegie celebrates the season— from 6 to 8 p. m. on Friday, Dec. 5, at 1 Veterans Way.

LIFE IN THORNBURG
If you live in Thornburg, you’ re very fortunate indeed! Though it be but little, it is fierce— and fun( to borrow a line or two from Shakespeare!). With its own community center and auditorium, library, community club and theater group( Thornburg Village Players), there’ s always something going on. Lots of community events for residents are held throughout the year.
To keep up with all the excitement, be sure to sign up for the borough’ s quarterly newsletter,“ Talk of the Town,” at thornburgborough. org.
NEIGHBORS IN NEED
While most of us will be planning wonderful holiday meals, some members of the community will have a hard time finding enough food to eat.
There is a food bank in Carnegie, located within the St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church operated by the St. Vincent de Paul Society. If you can help by donating items or funds, your generosity will be much appreciated by those in need.
The church is located at 330 3rd Ave., and is open Monday through Friday from 9 a. m. to 3:30 p. m. There is a place to leave donations in the narthex( entrance hall) of the church. You may also mail a check for a monetary donation to the church, payable to St. Vincent de Paul Society.
You can help make it a happy holiday season for neighbors in need. n
