Welcome to the summer issue of IN Carlynton-
Montour magazine.
There’s no better way to enjoy lazy days of
summer than on one of the area’s waterways.
Whether you enjoy the solitude of a quiet fishing
spot or like to kayak and canoe down a stream
with family, you have many options. Check out our
article “Rollin’ on the Rivers, Lakes, and Ponds” for
a list of nearby rivers, creeks, lakes and ponds—and
all the water activities available.
Another great feature of our region is its many parks. Our communities are
rich with green spaces for recreation for the entire family. Not only does nature
provide space for physical activities, but being outdoors is also good for your
mental health, reducing stress and increasing happiness. Studies show that even
10 minutes in a park or urban woodland significantly reduces stress. Our parks
also promote a better sense of community. It’s a place for families to picnic, ride
bikes, fly kites or play pickleball.
Also, don’t miss our Summer Events Guide. At press time, many of the events
listed were confirmed for late summer but, due to COVID-19, be sure to check
the websites for the most up-to-date information.
