In the current market, however, things may not be so easy, which is why you need a qualified and responsive agent working on your behalf. Thaman notes that there are currently more buyers than sellers in this market, which can lead to all sorts of situations that buyers and sellers may not know how to navigate.
“ One thing people should brace themselves for is the potential of multiple offers. A good agent can prepare their buyers for that situation— what to expect, how to be realistic and how to keep their head on straight,” he said.“ And, with more buyers than sellers, people need to be prepared to offer full price, not lowball the offer, which could put them out of the running very, very quickly.”
On the flip side, Thaman added that people shouldn’ t settle on the first thing they see, either.“ If you’ re not finding something, don’ t settle on a house because you don’ t think you’ ll do better,” he said.“ Look around. You’ ll surprise yourself. Know what you think you want before you
go in so when you do find it, you’ ll take less time to think about it and have less risk of losing it. Right now, it’ s not unusual to look at a house and see it under contract the next day.”
