ROBINSON TOWNSHIP HISTORICAL SOCIETY: WHERE THE LOVE OF HISTORY FLOURISHES The Robinson Township Historical Society is working on several exciting projects aimed at uncovering more and more of our past. Coming soon, there will be archaeological digs in the area to learn more about both the large local American Indian population that once roamed our hills and our earliest settlers, most of whom were farmers. The first dig yielded half a dozen important pieces of antiquity, some of which are shown here. Members of the society are also doing historic research on the Robinson soldiers who fought in the Civil War, the War of 1812, and the Revolutionary War. And the historical society is nearing completion on a two-year project to clearly define the evolution of the township borders from Robinson’s incorporation in 1802 to today. Members hope to acquire more artifacts from digs and individuals (Have any you’d like to donate?), and plan to purchase new display cases to share acquisitions with visitors. There will be colorful pamphlets detailing the history of each project, and all will be available to museum visitors. icmags.com All of the projects require seemingly endless research and legwork, but it’s fascinating and fun. If you have an interest in any of the above, or an idea of your own, the Robinson Township Historical Society can match your skills and interests with the perfect project.
