Robinson Township Chiropractic Back to Health

People of all ages can have back problems, something Dr. Cory Wonderly of Robinson Township Chiropractic knows all too well.

“ My passion is to help people with whatever their physical ailment may be by using a mix of new technology and techniques,” he said.“ While the methods are state of the art, the way that I treat my patients, with respect and compassion, is pretty traditional.”

Practicing for nearly five years, with one and a half years at his current Robinson location, Dr. Wonderly already has been voted one of the best chiropractors in the region by the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review’ s Readers Choice survey— no small feat for an up-and-coming practice.
That recognition could be due to the fact that Dr. Wonderly is dedicated to helping people both in and out of the office. As a volunteer firefighter for South Fayette, where he lives with his family, Dr. Wonderly not only understands the unique challenges first-responders face in the field, but the unique challenges presented when it comes to the routine back injuries they sustain as a result of their efforts in saving lives.
First responders often develop repetitive strain injuries in their lower backs as a result of lifting patients onto stretchers. The drop-down leg design of the stretchers themselves also require first responders to lift them before the wheels can be engaged, creating yet another incidence of lifting and straining. Those injuries are different from what Dr. Wonderly finds in the typical person, who comes in for an adjustment after a long week of work, or a weekend golf injury. Regardless of their reasons,
Dr. Wonderly says the bottom line is always the same— alleviating the patients’ pain and allowing them to resume their normal day-today functioning.
“ When people come to me, they are coming in for physical pain that’ s a combination of postural stress and emotional stress that turns into physical stress,” he said.“ Emotional stress actually releases hormones that can cause physical distress manifesting as headaches, mechanical pain and more. We can eliminate the physical pain, and I’ ve found that, while I’ m no therapist, people relieve a lot of that emotional stress just by talking about their concerns during the course of treatment. Headaches tend to go away really fast in my office.”
In addition to physical adjustments, Robinson Township Chiropractic is one of the few practices in the region using spinal decompression as a method of treating spinal disc herniation without surgery. The spinal decompression machine utilizes a traction table that stretches patients’ backs out gently and gradually, eliminating the pressure on their herniated discs and alleviating the pain associated with them.
