Volunteer of the Year
Carlynton School District Transition Coordinator Maggi Mishkin
helps any student who is over age 14 with a disability to identify their
life and career goal. She stands out as a dedicated professional not
only in this role but also in her many volunteer roles as she lives her
life to help others. For those reasons, Mishkin is the recipient of the
Community Awards of Service Excellence (CASE) Volunteer of the
Year Award.
In addition to all that she does for students with disabilities, she
organizes the Carlynton Chapter of the Special Olympics, for which
she serves as administrator. She is dedicated to ensuring that every child
with a disability who wants to participate has that opportunity. She also
invites more typically developing peers, as she knows that character
development grows as we help others. In this role, Mishkin has touched
the lives of hundreds of children with and without disabilities.
