The 19th Annual Carnegie Volunteer Fire & Rescue Bureau 5K Run / Walk will take place on Saturday, April 18, at 8 a. m. The event will start at the Carnegie Borough Building, 1 Veterans Way.
This is a family- and pet-friendly run / walk that features a flat course through downtown Carnegie. It’ s the biggest fundraiser of the year for the fire department, so get out and run, walk or cheer on friends and neighbors!

TIME TO GARDEN!
Spring is on the way, and the Kennedy Garden Club holds its Spring Festival each year in May.
This is a great opportunity to talk to experienced gardeners, and enjoy beautiful plants and flowers. Besides the festival, the club holds many fun events throughout the year, and meets the second Tuesday of the month at the Ken Mawr United Presbyterian Church.

EVERYTHING SCOTTISH!
Many area residents have Scottish roots that run deep. You can celebrate your heritage at Pittsburgh Tartan Day on Saturday, April 11, at Bethel Presbyterian Church in Bethel Park.
This event is sponsored by the St. Andrews Society of Pittsburgh, and this year will also celebrate the 250th anniversary of America as well as Bethel Presbyterian Church.
The fun begins at 10 a. m. and runs until 4:30 p. m., with free admission and parking. There will be many vendors selling Scottish memorabilia, information on the clans of Scotland, workshops, great food, raffles, entertainment and of course, bagpipers!

HOLLOW OAK’ S ANNUAL FUNDRAISER
Hollow Oak Land Trust preserves tracts of natural land, many of which are in our area.
Its 10th Annual Brewhaha fundraiser will be held Saturday, March 28, from 6 to 9:30 p. m. The event will be at the Mayernik Center, located in Avonworth Community Park.
It is widely attended by lovers of craft beer, fine wine and gourmet food. Ten local breweries will be offering a selection of their craft, and chef Chaz Smith of The Culinary Artists will present a five-course tasting menu to complement the spirits.
