Meet the Canon-McMillan Hall of Honor Class of 2024
The Canon-McMillan School District Hall of Honor celebrates individuals who have distinguished themselves through exceptional achievements or contributions in academia , athletics , arts , citizenry and / or valor . The most recent class honored four Big Macs at an induction on October 11 .
“ When the first class of the Canon-McMillan Hall of Honor was inducted in 2007 , it started a true picture of the Canon- McMillan community and the people it represents ,” Kathleen Berry , one of the first inductees , said . “ The range of the members takes in people who have given their lives for their country in battle , members who gave their lives in their search for cures for diseases , members who have entertained from stages across the world and people who cared about the needs of the children at Canon-McMillan .” anon-Mac CANON-MAC SCHOOL DISTRICT NEWS

Rick Bell
As the high school social studies department head , Rick Bell helped implement six new courses in the high school curriculum and established the Lead CM mentorship program .
Bell led his students through leadership and service projects , including raising money for causes like Little Pink Houses . His teaching accolades include being a two-time St . Vincent College Great Teacher recipient , three-time Who ’ s Who Among America ’ s Teachers and two-time All-Star Educator by the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette .
Moving to the court , Bell led the boys ’ basketball team to its first-ever PIAA playoff birth while being a two-time Washington-Greene County Coach of the Year , two-time Section 4-AAA Coach of the Year and Section 2-AAAA and AAAAAA Coach of the Year . Bell continues to lead on the court as an assistant coach for Duquesne University ’ s women ' s basketball team .
Anthony T . George Anthony T . George is honored posthumously for athletics and valor .
George was an athletic standout at Canonsburg High School from 1940 to 1944 . One of 15 siblings , George grew up on a farm and understood the importance of hard work . This ethic transferred to his athletic career as a four-sport athlete for Canonsburg High .
George was a four-year letter winner in football , being named to the WPIAL All-Area teams in cross-country , wrestling and track & field . Most notable are his wrestling accolades as a two-time WPIAL Champion , 1944 PIAA State Wrestling Qualifier and 1943 PIAA State Wrestling Champion by major decision at 133 pounds .
Upon graduation , George entered the United States Marine Corp . George died with honor fighting for our country during WWII on the Island of Okinawa .
