In recent years , North Strabane Township has experienced unparalleled progress and growth , while maintaining a strong sense of community that continues to make it a great place to call home and work . And as always , growth is accompanied by new challenges and obstacles for public safety .
The North Strabane Police Department , in relentless pursuit to not only meet these challenges , but to provide superior services to its residents and businesses , has recently added three highly qualified officers to help meet these goals .
Officer Cody Kusluch has had an easy transition to the department , as he is a lifelong resident of North Strabane Township and 2015 Canon-McMillan graduate . Cody believes that there is something special about serving the community where he was raised and continues to call home .
Officer Kusluch brings 6 years of experience to the department and has worked in various environments ranging from rural to urban communities . A graduate of the IUP Police Academy , Cody also serves as a member of the Washington Regional SWAT Team .
Officer Keith Zenkovich is another welcomed addition to the department and brings 25 years of invaluable experience with him . Keith is currently employed as a full-time officer for the South Strabane Township Police Department and will be working part-time for North Strabane .
During his 25 year career , Officer Zenkovich has also worked for the Clairton Police Department , as well as for Union Township .
Last , but certainly not least , we would like to welcome John Hansen , who will be working as a part-time officer . A consummate professional , he brings 13 years of experience to the department . John ' s journey has encompassed a number of different police agencies including Ford City Borough , Parks Township , Vandergrift , and now North Strabane Township . During his time at these agencies , he has been able to accumulate a vast amount of knowledge , training , and experience , all of which will serve as valuable assets to the department .
Officer Hansen has spent the past 4 years conducting specialized narcotic enforcement , collaborating with both the Armstrong County and Clarion County Drug Task Forces . The Police Department will welcome another new fulltime officer Nicholas Cichon , in January 2024 . Officer Cichon has five years of experience as a police officer and has worked for various agencies in the area . He will be leaving his full-time police officer position where he has been employed since 2020 .
