In “The Nerd” by Larry Shue, an aspiring
young architect owes his life to a fellow
ex-GI whom he has never met, and is
delighted when he shows up unexpectedly
but soon finds him to be a bumbling oaf.
His continued presence brings about one
uproarious incident after another, leading
up to a surprising story ending.
