CANON-MAC SCHOOL DISTRICT NEWS

First Street Students Try Their Hands at Poetry

First Street Elementary students were given the opportunity to participate in a poetry writing contest celebrating Halloween and autumn.

Students in first through fourth grades were asked to submit a poem— and a winner from each grade level was chosen based on creativity, neatness and imagination.
Each poem was unique and full of wonderful ideas— Mrs. Noce, Mrs. Stewart and Mrs. Cummings were overwhelmed by the number of students who participated in the challenge, as well as by their enthusiasm.
The winners of the Fall / Halloween Poetry Challenge received a book, small prize, and their poems were read during the morning announcements.
The First Street Reading Team’ s goal is to encourage students to read and write as much as possible.
We would like to extend special congratulations to our grade level winners! 1st grade: Madelyn Sofran 2nd grade: Mason Brown 3rd grade: Landon Martello 4th grade: Rya Emehizer
