Canon-McMillan School District hosted its first-ever“ Canon McCarnival” this spring, bringing together students, community partners, teachers and administrators for a districtwide celebration focused on inclusion and networking.
Held on the District’ s new middle school turf field, the carnival brought together students from eight schools participating in S. T. A. R. S.( Schools Together with Athletes Reaching Success), a partnership of 23 area high schools dedicated to creating inclusive, meaningful events for students with and without disabilities.
The“ Canon McCarnival” welcomed students in autistic support and life skills programs, as well as members of the Best Buddies club.
“ This event is a reflection of our commitment to creating inclusive experiences where every student feels supported,” said Becky Lieb, Director of Special Education.“ It’ s about giving
