WHAT’S NEWS IN CANON-MAC
NEW WASHINGTON
COUNTY TOURISM
PROMOTION AGENCY
CAMPAIGN
In celebration of the kickoff to the
2019 tourism season in Washington
County, the Washington County Tourism
Promotion Agency announced the
debut of a new branding and marketing
campaign for Washington County titled,
“The American Spirit Lives Here.”
The focus of the initiative is to
combine the many components of the
county’s local tourism industry together
to provide an overarching message that
will encompass each of the area’s travel
categories to illustrate a more complete
focus of the county’s broad appeal.
Jeff Kotula, President of the
Washington County Tourism Promotion
Agency, commented on the importance
of authenticity to the agency’s advertising
campaign.
“We have a great story to tell in
Washington County, which is home to
some of the country’s finest historical,
entertainment and cultural attractions,”
he said. “What we are unveiling is the
result of continued partnerships and
discussions with our local tourism assets,
groups like the Washington County
Heritage Alliance, the Montour Trail
Council, PONY Baseball and Softball,
as well as attractions like The Meadows
Casino Racetrack Hotel, Meadowcroft
Rockshelter and Historic Village and our
county’s agricultural fairs.”
Chase McClain, Director of Marketing,
agreed and spoke about the process for
developing the campaign and identifying
the new voice of Washington County,
Temperance Scott, a fifth grader at
Canon-McMillan.

CITY MISSION OFFERS
DRUG-FREE PAIN
MANAGEMENT
Every Wednesday, the City Mission
Medical Center becomes the Drug-Free
Pain Management Clinic, where residents
receive drug-free pain treatments from
licensed medical professionals.
“Our goal is to help people manage
their pain,” says Cyndi Urbanowicz, a
retired flight nurse and one of the medical
volunteers at the clinic. “Unfortunately,
most of the residents we see have chronic
pain. We’re helping to decrease their pain
and other symptoms.”
Sadly, the need for a drug-free pain
management clinic like the one at City
Mission is overwhelming. More than
30% of all Americans have some form of
acute or chronic pain, and pain-relieving
opioids are now the most commonly
prescribed class of medications in the
United States. All of the Drug-Free Pain
Management Clinic’s treatments are
effective for a wide range of ages and
conditions.
