Canon-McMillan School District Superintendent Recognizes Exceptional Staff and Teachers With New Monthly Awards
Canon-McMillan educators and staff work hard to provide students and families with a leading public education experience. Teacher and staff appreciation is a high priority for Superintendent Dr. Greg Taranto, who entered his new role this past July. As an employee recognition initiative, Dr. Taranto quickly created two internal awards to recognize educators and staff within the District: the Superintendent Star Educator Award and the Superintendent Star Award.
“ I created these awards to show appreciation to those who go above and beyond for our students,” shared Dr. Taranto.“ It is a small way to express our gratitude and recognize the value they bring to Canon-McMillan.”
Superintendent Star Educator Award
The Superintendent Star Educator Award selection process is rigorous and fair, ensuring teachers are recognized. A recipient demonstrates commitment to professional growth and development, has a record of excellence in teaching and is actively involved in the school and community.
The recipient may serve on committees, lead extracurricular activities, supervise student teachers or mentor new teachers, help with curriculum writing, contribute to the academic integrity of the school, work cooperatively with colleagues, staff and administration and act as a role model for their students and colleagues. They will also embody the values of respect, integrity and dedication.
“ It ' s an honor to be recognized, especially with all the excellent teachers in our district,” said Jason Dill, a recipient of the award and teacher at Canon-McMillan High School.“ I love my job and teaching here at Canon-McMillan. Our administrative team is very supportive and appreciative not only of my hard work but also the work of our entire staff.”
Superintendent Star Award
These awards recognize individual excellence to inspire and uplift the entire school community while fostering a positive and supportive work environment. Superintendent Star Award recipients are non-teaching staff who go above and beyond in their work.
Recipients will have demonstrated outstanding job performance and exceeded expectations in their role with a high skill level, taking the initiative to go above and beyond their job description. They will also maintain an unwavering dedication to their job and school community and willingly take on additional responsibilities and tasks, all while ensuring smooth school function, collaboration and teamwork. Recipients collaborate effectively with colleagues, teachers and administrators to foster a positive and supportive work environment, actively participate in school initiatives and projects, maintain a positive attitude and interact professionally and respectfully with students, parents and colleagues.
“ It is wonderful to receive this award and be recognized by the District,” shared Pam Jox, a recipient of the Superintendent Star Award.“ I also love how the District acknowledges staff members, no matter their positions. I am truly humbled to be working for this amazing District.” anon-Mac CANON-MAC SCHOOL DISTRICT NEWS
