The love story of Frank and Athena Sarris paved the way for the sweet creation of local gem Sarris Candies.

Not only is Sarris Candies a wellknown and beloved staple of Pittsburgh’ s South Hills communities, but these famous chocolates can be purchased in more than 1,800 locations in 11 states. Yet, the sweetest aspect of this beloved local business lies in the heartwarming love story that sparked its creation, bringing joy and sweetness to countless lives ever since.
It all began when a young Frank Sarris met the lovely Athena— the woman who would become his lifelong sweetheart. To win her affection, Frank presented Athena with a box of chocolates. Her face lit up as she lifted the lid, and at that moment, Frank knew two things: he was in love, and he could make better chocolates.
